we’re radically inclusive.

we embrace imperfection.

we create safe community.

we listen for God.

we follow Jesus.

we’re okay if this is messy & unslick.

we’re willing to be vulnerable, and even uncomfortable, while on this path…

we believe this is a journey, not a destination.

Journey doesn’t belong to a denomination, it doesn’t easily fit into any church categories, and it has an odd name.

Here’s what you can expect on Sunday:

We embrace the many ways people experience God, learn about meaningful spirituality, and find community.

Our gatherings include readings and teaching from Jewish and Christian scripture, as well as poems and quotes by religious and non-religious authors, listening to and singing religious and non-religious music, watching movie clips, open discussion, meditation, silence, laughter, bells, lots of candles, activities, more laughter, elements from ancient Christian worship traditions, elements from other traditions, and anything else we can find that feels true and helps us connect to God/Spirit and the world.

Is Everybody Welcome?

Everybody. Every skin color. Every political viewpoint - or none. Every sexuality and gender. Every religious background and belief - or none. And we don’t welcome you with the intention of changing you. We want you to bring all of who and what you are.

Why “Imperfect?”

When we were first forming in 2004, we did a lot of discerning around what kind of community we felt called to be. “Imperfect” seemed an important thing to say: we are imperfect, our faith doesn’t have to be perfect, this community won’t be perfect, and all of those things are fine.

Journeyers Give Time and Love

Loving the world takes effort. It takes time. Compassion, hospitality, service, and healing require us to show up and give our gifts to - and beyond - Journey. Can you show up to help? Bake? Teach? Wash feet? Fix cars? Sing? Fight for Justice? Don’t just come and “watch” Journey. It doesn’t work like that. This isn’t a performance; it’s a community, with a purpose to fulfill. Bring your gifts. There is a place for you here.
