What We Believe
We're sure that God is good. God is the purest form of love. God is a mystery. God is at work in the world. God cares about every person in every situation. God is not small. God will not fit into any box that human beings create. We believe that understanding and following God is an unending process.
We see the life, ministry, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus as the perfect expression of the love and power of God. We believe that following Jesus is our highest calling. We believe that when people let go of their own fears (even a little bit), God has room to do things in us and through us that we wouldn't think are possible.
We believe that God wants to heal all people. We try to be a part of that healing work.
Journey 2.0 – Pray As One, 2009Four and a half years ago, a group of people met in a series of gatherings to ask the question, “What does God dream of in a church?” They dedicated themselves – their time, their energy, their money, their prayers – to creating such a faith community together. That’s how Journey Imperfect Faith Community was born. And hundreds more have dedicated themselves to that calling as well as the years have passed. Many Journeyers have been sensing that there’s something happening. In America, in the world, and in our community. God’s at work. Journey's staff and Shepherds believe it’s time to ask God and do some listening again. This time, the question isn’t, “What does God dream of in a church?” but “What does God dream of Journey doing and being in the world?” Read more about what this means within our faith community ... |
