Austin PRIDE Festival and Parade

PRIDE IS HERE! Participating in PRIDE is a perfect opportunity to celebrate that we Journeyers are part of a radically inclusive faith community that believes ALL of God's children are beloved, including our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters. Let’s come together to show God’s love! Please sign up to volunteer here or by clicking the “sign up” button below.

The PRIDE Festival is the LARGEST annual LGBTQ advocacy and fundraising event in Central Texas! Dozens of non-profit organizations -- including Journey IFC! -- and social clubs use the Festival as a platform to inform and interact with the thousands of attendees. Each year, countless people find new organizations to join, causes to support, and opportunities to volunteer. The 2019 Austin PRIDE Festival on Saturday August 10 features an awesome lineup of Headline Entertainers on the Main Stage, a second stage of nationally and regionally known DJs, inflatable games and activities, photo booths, face painting, drinks, food, and over 120 booths featuring local non-profits organizations and businesses that support the LGBTQIA community.

That same evening, the PRIDE Parade brings over 100,000 spectators to the streets of downtown Austin! A free celebration for the entire community, this year the participants will parade proudly down Congress Avenue and 4th Street with floats and contingents celebrating Austin PRIDE 2019's theme is "Boogie Wonderland." Come out and let’s boogie!

Journey IFC will be marching with our Journey IFC banner in the parade for the 10th consecutive year and we are excited to show God's love to all. Bring signs, dress brightly and celebrate that we are a radically inclusive faith community that believes all God's children are beloved. And for the 5th year, we will have a booth at the PRIDE Festival, sharing God's love with the LGBTQIA community through art and creativity. Now THAT's the Journey way!

You want to join the PRIDE party? Here's what to do.

We need volunteers to represent Journey at the festival to chat with patrons, pass out goodies, and give Free Mom Hugs. Our booth is located in a prime spot and we get a lot of foot traffic, so we really need at least 2 Journeyers there at all times, 11am-6pm. Please sign up here or by clicking the “sign up” button below. If you’d like to join but the time slot doesn’t quite workout for you, please feel free to sign up for the closest window and we will coordinate around your schedule. There’s also a slot for the PRIDE parade included so we can keep a headcount for who’s joining. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ethan at ethanlmckay[at]gmail[dot]com or 512-470-5048. Journey WILL provide festival tickets for booth volunteers! Sign up and join the fun!

Journey Contribution Cards

JIFC contribution cardHave you ever felt left out at offering time because you give online, and you're not quite sure what to do when the baskets go by? Or maybe you write a check at the beginning of the month and wonder what to do those other Sundays of the month? Do you give your time rather than money? Well, your Bones Ministry feels your pain. We've come up with some simple Journey Giving Cards, available on the back tables, to help you during offering. Just pick one up on your way in and later drop it in the basket. It allows you to actively participate in offering and to demonstrate your commitment to Journey. And the Journey Giving cards are for everyone! Sometimes folks have nothing to offer but prayers and good wishes, so use the Journey Giving Cards for that purpose, too. It's all about being present, being intentional, and being part of giving to and sustaining our faith community. Every contribution — of whatever sort — counts!
