Today's Program

Creating Space for God’s Spirit

The room is relaxed because we’re doing some very relaxed interaction today. In the middle is our Resurrection series pottery bowl on a table and with some lights in it and flowing out of it. The Dreams Tree makes its debut. There are also tables on the side with markers and paper for the Dream Tree exercise.

  • “In God’s Country” by U2 plays
  • A Journeyer steps up to light the lamp and another rings the bell

Worshiping with Our Children

  • Susan McK. leads our children in talking about how we are all stardust

What do you think people are made of? Our bodies – what are they made of? Yes, muscles, and bones, and blood, and hearts, and brains. But the stuff that THOSE things are made of is the same stuff as the earth – the tiniest parts, the atoms and molecules – and those came from stars. Stars exploding and sending molecules out into the universe and all the way to here on earth – and the Bible says God made us out of the stuff that the earth is made of. Everything comes from stars! That means you're made of stars! Let’s ask God to help us let our light shine in this world.

“A possibility was born the day you were born,
And it will live as long as you live.”
-- Marcus Solero

“Life is a pure flame,
And we live by an
Invisible sun within us.”
-- Sir Thomas Browne

“One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.”
-- Friedrich Nietzsche

Giving -- To Help God Do God's Work in This World

  • Brooke and Brian S. talk about what Journey means to them
  • Alan S. reads from the early Christian scripture called The Gospel of John, chapter 20

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. What and whom you release and empower here on earth, is released and empowered; if you choose not to, they will not be released, and the thing will not come to pass.”
