The prophet Micah exhorted the Hebrews to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. Our 21st century world could use that same exhortation as we encounter present day inequities in gender, race, nationality, religion and sexual orientation. There are more men, women and children enslaved today than there were in the days of the civil war, and living in harmony with the created world for which we were given responsibility has become a hot-button issue. So what does justice look like for those of us who take seriously our charge to do justice in our everyday walk and existence? What is it that we are called to do -- both as a community and as individuals -- to respond with compassion and strength to the issues facing our world?
